Ministries at Peace Lutheran

Many hands are involved in this ministry. Volunteers knit or crochet prayer shawls of varying colors. It is said that each stitch includes a prayer. When someone is in need of those prayers of love, healing or comfort, a shawl is chosen and prayed upon by the people of the church and then given as a gift to the person it was blessed for. Volunteers also make miniature ones called pocket prayer shawls that can be carried in a pocket to remind the carrier that he or she is not alone and of God’s love.

Peace Lutheran Church Women will again meet monthly September through May. Members bring their own lunch and beverage, and dessert is provided by the person(s) hosting. 

We also plan a couple of gatherings at local restaurants throughout the year. A variety of activities include devotionals, members sharing collections and interests along with guest speakers. We provide confirmation stoles for those being confirmed, baptismal napkins, and Bible bookmarks for first communion youth. We make prayer shawls, pocket-prayer shawls and collect items for the Love, Inc. food pantry. In December, we host an Advent by Candlelight to prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of Christ. Finally, our year ends in May with a salad supper and a guest speaker.
